Workplace Violence Prevention

Direct Patient Interaction (8hrs)

Covering topics that are realistic, applicable, and appropriate to all clinicians and staff with direct patient interaction, including:

  • Understanding One’s Role
  • Verbal De-Escalation
  • Trauma Informed Care
  • Spatial and Environmental Safety
  • Decision Making, Articulation, and Documentation
  • Self-defense appropriate for the clinical setting
    • Escort holds, limited control techniques, defending against life-threatening situations.
Indirect Patient Interaction (4hrs)

Not all staff or associates have direct patient interaction, but they may still benefit from understanding and knowing how to handle events of escalating behavior.

 

This class includes an understanding of the following skills:

  • Human Behavior Continuum
  • Verbal De-Escalation Skills
  • Environmental Safety Strategies
  • Legal and Liability Concerns
  • Importance of Proper Documentation
  • Best Practices for Prevention of Workplace Violence
